Can and is it legal for a collection agency to put a credit freeze on my credit report?

Tried to get a free annual credit report/credit score a few weeks ago and I was told there was a credit freeze on my credit report. I didn’t put the freeze on it myself, and the only other thing I can think of that would cause this to happen is that I have a small bill that I haven’t been able to pay and it has gone to a collection agency!

Not sure but I thought the only person that could put a freeze on your credit report is you. Are you a minor or just turned 18, maybe your parents?

No one can put a “freeze” on your credit record but you. It must be something else, or you don’t remember doing something to freeze your record so new accounts can’t be opened in your name without your taking additional steps.

this is something that either You do OR the credit reporting agency might do if you entered mistaken info. They usually provide a address or phone number to contact and you call and they mail the report to you
This is proptection if they seen something funny on the account too

For getting copy of your report from the agency it is procedure for getting copy of your report from the only one who can do though contact the only one who can do that there is pain to do.
