This is the one and only site operated and endorsed by the federal trade commission. All the other sites that offer free credit reports will try to get you to sign up for unwanted services like credit monitoring. They put it in the fine print. Its one of those deals where its free for a month or two but then they bill you for it. Use only the site I listed above, and nothing else.
This is the only true free credit report site as approved by the FTC. There are many impostors out there. If the site requires a credit card number, then forget about them.
The one you see on TV charges you, even though they offer a free trial their rules stipulate that enrollment in their program is required. And once they got you, it may take months to cancel it.
Hope this answers your question
I don’t know about this web site, but I know you are entitled to one free credit report per year. Go directly to the source by phone and request a report from the three reporting agencies. Experian, Transuion, and Equifax. The phone numbers are listed on line. You have to be very careful about ordering your reports online because you may be opening yourself to telemarketers selling about everything. Expect to be on hold for a while, but it is worth it to protect your privacy.
FreeCreditReport.com is legit but it requires a credit card and you have to register for credit monitoring in order to get the free report. While they do offer a trial period, if you don’t cancel, you’ll be charged a monthly fee. And there are a lot of people who have had a hard time getting FCR to honor their cancellation request.
To get a truly free report, go to AnnualCreditReport.com.
This is the only government approved website to receive your free credit reports. You’re allowed one free report per bureau, once every 12 months.
