It is expected that you check them once a year.
Failure to do so, would look much worse.
Only go to annualcreditreport.com
all others charge you fees for something that is totally free-
always has been.
Don’t fall for tv commercials.

There are two different types of inquiries to your credit: soft and hard. When you request your own credit, it is called a soft inquiry and does not affect the score. When a business does it to get your credit rating, it is called a hard query, and that can be reflected in your score.
