Sue S asked:
Somehow he used my SS# when he moved out and now my credit report is wrong. I am angry that he did that and need to get fixed. I am job hunting and looks like I am lying on job applications. I found this out when I did my free credit annual credit report. HELP!

dispute the info with the reporting agency. if you can prove it’s wrong they have to remove it. if they don’t report them to the federal trade commission. more info at

You can dispute even the inaccurate personal data on your credit report. If you have gotten the report within the last 30 days, you should be able to use the online dispute on that bureau’s website even if you received the credit report by mail. Otherwise call in or write a letter, the address and/or number should be included with the report. Make sure any correspondence references the credit report file number. And if you did not get all three credit reports, you should do so since the inaccuracies may be on any or all of the three major bureau’s.
Finally, when the information is updated you can request that the corrected report be sent to any employer who has requested your report. And although, I don’t think it necessary, you can certainly add a written explanation to your credit file if they will not remove the addresses.
