free annual credit report
Adelaide B asked:

All of them advertise ‘Free Annual Credit Report’ but require membership and a credit card in order to give me my ‘free’ credit report.
Isn’t there supposed to be a way I can obtain my credit report without having to pay for it?
Why on earth are they allowed to advertise that your credit report is free when it isn’t?
Isn’t that false advertisement?
I also tried Annual Credit Report and they want membership and a credit card just like all the others.
Jeesh!
Thank You all of you I don’t watch commercials because I **** television so that’s why I’ve never heard of freecreditreport but thank you for letting me know about it.

The ONLY place where you can get your credit report for free, without having to sign up for any other service, is here:

It gives you all three reporting agencies. I’m not sure where you went (named annual credit report) that required a credit card, but I’ve never had to provide one, or had to join anything.
