free annual credit report
why my name asked:

I was checking my free annual credit report and it reports about 10-15 banks requesting my credit report, banks like first usa , amex , hsbc and others to which I never applied for any accounts or loans or cards. How do they get my info ? I have 2 credit cards only . Is this normal ? I head when someone requests credit report the credit score decreases.
I have two credit cards only and haven’t applied to any other since I got my second card.

Sounds like someone stole your identity and is trying to open up a credit card. Call up all three credit places and have them put a credit freeze on your account and tell them your idenitity may have been stolen.

Look at the list carefully. These are probably not hard inquiries but soft inquiries and don’t impact your credit score at all. Credit card companies do a soft inquiry to get list of people who fall within certain guidelines. This is where all the credit card offers come from.

You can opt out: . Opting out will cut back on the junk mail you get.
