If a credit report exists with your name and social security number, you can obtain a free copy from that website. No credit card is needed.
If no credit report exists with your social security number, then you obviously cannot obtain a copy, free or otherwise.
annualcreditreport.com is absolutely free and you don’t need to enter any type of credit or debit card information.
If you never applied for a credit card, the best way to build your credit score is with a secured credit card. Believe the minimum is $500. Most banks can set it up for you. Make sure they belong to the credit bureau. After 12 months, then you should request your free credit reports from annualcreditreport.com or call them toll free @ 1-877-322-8228 for all 3 free reports.
