Back in 1997, I ran into some financial trouble and took out a loan for the balance on a mobile home I once owned. I defaulted on the loan that year, but it is still on my credit report. I wrote letters to the bank and to the credit reporting agencies, and this is still on my credit report. This is the only bad credit/delinquency I’ve ever had. I would appreciate any suggestions.

How do I obtain my free yearly credit report from the major credit agencies. I have heard that a law was passed and all agencies were to provide a persons credit report free once a year. I have encountered several websites claiming to be free but there are none that i have yet to come across. I do not have a bank account to paypal any of these credit report sites. Tried to get a free annual credit report/credit score a few weeks ago and I was told there was a credit freeze on my credit report. I didn’t put the freeze on it myself, and the only other thing I can think of that would cause this to happen is that I have a small bill that I haven’t been able to pay and it has gone to a collection agency!
